Fishing and Boating on  Lake Chapman

Largemouth Bass, Channel Catfish, Bullhead Catfish, Crappie, and Bream are the most commonly caught fish at Lake Chapman. Grass carp have been placed in the lake to help eliminate our aquatic weed problem. If caught, we ask that these fish be released.  Sportfishing only is permitted. (Pole and line) No baskets, trot lines, or trapping. The daily limit for Bass is 10 and Crappie is 30.

Fishing is permitted everywhere in Sandy Creek Park except:
--On or near the dam and spillway
--The concrete platform (water release mechanism) in front of the dam.
--The beach

Boats are to be launched and brought in from the boat ramp only. Canoes and Kayaks may also use the canoe launch to the right of the beach.

Boats must use electric motors only. Boats with gas motors may use the lake providing the gas motor is not used at any time, including launching, loading, and unloading.

All Georgia Boating and Fishing Regulations must be observed on the lake. Please have your fishing license and boat registration with you. DNR Law Enforcement officers regularly patrol the lake.

All boats, including rafts, canoes, and kayaks must have one U.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device per person on board.

Catch a big one? We have a scale at the gatehouse. Stop by and we’ll take your picture!
